Brief introduction of the organization (Disabled Care Nepal)

Every human being is free and possesses equal importance and access to rights from their birth. Considering this fact, the persons with disabilities have also equal access to their rights and freedom spontaneously as being the humans. Therefore, recognizing the dignified living of these people and regarding their rights of freedom, security and equality, the organization was established ensuring its full support and agreement towards the UN convention on Human Rights, UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities as well as similar proclamations and conventions, and embracing the constitutionally provisioned fundamental rights to its citizens, for the protection, promotion and full utilization of the rights and welfare by the persons with disabilities. The organization emphasizes on the supports, collaborations, communication and negotiation with other responsible ­ institutions sharing a common purpose motivating the collective efforts so that the attempts are responded, voices are heard and outcomes are augmented both qualitatively and quantitatively.

Disabled Care Nepal is a non-government, non-political, non-profitable organization with its full endeavors specialized on the access of ओपीडी” on employment, social, political and economic empowerment, ensuring their access and equal participation at the policy-making levels and national development. With these objectives, this organization was formally registered on the district administration of Kathmandu on 28th Magh, 2078 B.S. in accordance to the organization registration act 2034 B.S, and was affiliated to national social welfare council on Bhadra 2nd, 2076 B.S.

Disabled Care Nepal is an organization aiming a sustainable campaign on ensuring, protecting and promoting the rights of the persons with disabilities and also their easy access to consumption/­utilization of the services and amenities available regardless of their impairments. For this to succeed, the organization has focused on the access, participation and empowerment of the PWDs and also has made efforts to bring about the changes in the behavior as well as attitude of the society and the state.

For the attainment of its goals, the organization has incorporated public advocacy, capacity development, raising awareness, as well as establishment of cooperation and networking as its main strategies. The organization has also been playing a leading role in a unified manner for the active and decisive role of the PWDs in the development processes. Meanwhile, the organization has also targeted to collaborate and cooperate with other government and non-government organizations, INGOs affiliated to or fighting for the rights of PWDs.
